Choose the day before the boat
Koh Kood, also written Ko Kut, is in Trat in eastern Thailand. Namtok Khlong Chao, Ao Yai and the fishing village at Ao Salat give you places to look into beyond your accommodation’s beach.
Would a beach-and-island day feel like enough even without an excursion? That is a useful test. A quiet coast works well when it is the reason for going. If shopping and a busy nightlife district are central to your trip, compare other bases before committing to the beach photograph.
Join up all three parts of arrival
Mainland → departure pier

Boat → island landing
Confirm the arrival point and the service for your travel date. A route map is useful orientation; the ticket and operator’s current instructions determine your connection.
Landing → your beach
Ask how your accommodation transfer works and whether it is part of the ticket. Do the same exercise in reverse for departure.
Count the day between crossings
Our planning starting point is three nights if you want two full island days between arrival and departure. With two nights, decide what you most want from the one day in the middle. A longer stay only helps if you actually want more time in the same place.
TAT notes that boat services can be limited in low season and winds can affect Trat crossings. Check current sailings for your dates. A mainland night before a fixed onward flight is one way to give the connection more room; decide using the route you will actually take.

Locate Ao Salat, Ao Yai, Khlong Chao and your hotel on the same map. Pick the outing that interests you instead of trying to collect every place name. Leave a full afternoon for the coast that made you choose the island in the first place.
